NPH is an intermediate acting insulin. It is a suspension of Regular with protamine added to delay it's action. NPH stands for "Neutral Protamine Hagedorn." It may also simply be called "N." It starts working in 2-3 hours, has a peak at 6-8 hours, and lasts 12-15 hours.
